8.5.11 - TGIF!

We drove to Tampa this morning with Sam to inspect the shipment of Travertine, newly arrived from western Turkey. The importer, Stone Mart, has a large warehouse at the end of the north runway of Tampa International airport. It felt like you could almost touch the planes flying overhead.

Brian pulled out a number of 18 inch tiles from crate #6 and laid them down side by side. Everyone loved the color and markings of the Lycus river stone. This shipment took a long time coming and we're relieved that it looks as good as it does. The main floor of the house, inside and out, will be tiled in this beautiful stone. On the drive back to Sarasota Sam treated us to a lobster roll lunch at the funky Crab Trap in Terra Ceia.

Last Wednesday Dan and Tom officially moved from DC to Sarasota. They've been busy hanging art, rearranging furniture and making 517 Madison Drive their home home. Tonight we celebrated Tom's birthday at Oh Mamma Mia, a Milanese restaurant in Gulfgate. Tom had gnocci, Elliott had portobella raviolli and Dan and Janet had vitello Milanese — all delicious and wonderful. Phone calls from Nhan and Stephenie wishing Tom happy birthday topped off a perfect evening.
