Politically-Charged Graphics in the Nations Capitol
A giant "Black Lives Matter" (BLM) mural has been painted on 16th Street, between H and K Streets NW, leading up to the White House at the request of Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser. Work on the mural began Friday, June 5, 2020 at 3AM.
The section of 16th Street in front of the White House and next to St. John's Episcopal Church has now been officially designated 'Black Lives Matter Plaza'.

Earlier this week, peaceful protesters were teargassed and beaten with batons by National Guards and police, forcibly clearing the way for President Donald Trump and his minions to have a 15 minute Photo Op, as the #OrangeWeasel held a bible upside down in front of the historic St. John's Episcopal Church. The BLM mural honors the brave demonstrators who are demanding an end to racially-motivated police brutality.
Responding to Bowser's decision to designate the area as "Black Lives Matter Plaza," BlackLivesMatter DC tweeted: "THIS IS INSANE! This is a performative distraction from real policy changes. Bowser has consistently been on the wrong side of BLMDC history. This is to appease white liberals while ignoring our demands. Black Lives Matter means defund the police."

Meanwhile in Sarasota, 200 passionate and mostly young protesters marched five hours through downtown on Wednesday, June 3rd in the pouring rain and reenacted George Floyd's last 9 minutes of life on the steps of Selby Library.
